Wayne Caplan is a Senior Advisor and Director of Investment & Development Services for Sperry Van Ness, LLC specializing in investment & development property sales and retail leasing. Mr. Caplan, has participated in investment property sales and leasing listings in excess of over $300 Million in the past several years. He participated in the sale of the largest multi-family property in Chicagos Lincoln Park area in 2001, a $28.5 million, 348 unit apartment complex in addition to the sale of a $4.5 million timber loft building in Chicagos River North area. Other recent highlights include an 18,232 sq. ft. supermarket lease in Waukegan, IL, a $3.4 million, 50-unit apt complex in the Rogers Park area of Chicago, a 34,000 sq. ft. industrial sale in Chicagos Albany Park area for $1.525 million, two mixed use development parcels, a 31,000 sq. ft. project in Chicagos Rogers Park neighborhood for $1.925 million, a 15,000 sq. ft. parcel in Chicagos Lakeview area for $2.2 million, a mixed use building at 710 N. Rush in Chicagos Gold Coast neighborhood for $1.9 million, a 21,200 Sq. Ft. development site in Chicagos River North area for $6.1 million, a 22,000 sf development site in Chicagos Bucktown neighborhood for $3.7 million, a 34,000 sf development site in Chicagos South Loop neighborhood for $8 million and a multitude of small shop retail/commercial space in a variety of Chicagos most dynamic neighborhoods. Mr. Caplan has completed leasing transactions with some of the retail sectors top companies including White Hen Pantry, Subway, Moonstruck Chocolate Shop, Washington Mutual Bank and Charter One Bank.Mr. Caplan also served as the Development Sales Manager for Catalpa Gardens Condominiums, a 126 unit, $38 million new construction residential condominium project in Chicagos Edgewater neighborhood. Catalpa Gardens is the fastest selling new construction development on the north side of Chicago, achieving a 50% sold status in only the first 6 weeks of sales. Additionally, Mr. Caplan served as the Development Sales Manager for Lakewood Place Condominiums, a 25-unit condominium conversion in Chicagos Rogers park neighborhood.Mr. Caplan was the 2000 Rookie of the Year for Inland Real Estate Sales and also was a top producer at Sheldon Good & Company for six years. He has received his bachelors degree in Computer Science from New York University and his MBA in Real Estate and Finance from Northwestern Universitys Kellogg School of Management. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), has sat on the Chicago Association of Realtors Commercial Forum committee, of which he was the 2006 Committee Chair, and is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) candidate. Mr. Caplan has also been named to the prestigious Board of Directors of the 17,000 member Chicago Association of Realtors. Mr. Caplan also is active in several Chicago neighborhood groups including Upcorp (Uptown Community Development Corporation), and EUBA (Edgewater Uptown Builders Association). He is also a contributor to charities such as the American Red Cross, and is a large contributor to Streetwise, whose building at 1331 S. Michigan Ave. Mr. Caplan brokered the sale of in August of 2005.
